2. Where PMSM High Efficiency Motors Are Used
Belt conveyor drive systems in mining and bulk material handling often operate at varying load conditions. Compared with selected induction-motor drive solutions, PMSM systems can provide higher efficiency and power factor across a broad operating range when correctly matched with a VFD and conveyor duty profile. This is particularly relevant for long-distance and high-capacity conveyors where energy consumption is a major operating cost.
With a compatible variable-frequency drive, selected PMSM configurations can support a wide speed-control range. Final speed range, low-speed torque, cooling, and field-weakening performance must be confirmed for the conveyor duty cycle.
