Fabric Conveyor Belt

ZOOMRY fabric conveyor belts, also known as textile conveyor belts, are multi-ply bulk material handling belts constructed from EP (polyester-nylon) and nylon fabric carcasses. Available in options from 3 ply to 6 ply, these versatile belts deliver excellent troughability, impact resistance, and flexibility for a wide range of standard-duty applications in mining, cement, quarry, and industrial conveying. Compared to steel cord belts, fabric belts offer a more economical solution for moderate distances and loads — with custom cover grades, widths, and ply configurations available to match specific material handling requirements.

ZOOMRY fabric Conveyor Belts, also known as textile conveyor belts, are multi-ply bulk material handling belts constructed from EP (polyester-nylon) and nylon fabric carcasses. Available in options from 3 ply to 6 ply, these versatile belts deliver excellent troughability, impact resistance, and flexibility for a wide range of standard-duty applications. Compared to steel cord conveyor belts, fabric belts offer a more economical solution for moderate distances and loads — making them the most widely used belt type in mining, cement, and quarry operations worldwide.

How Do Fabric Conveyor Belts Differ from Steel Cord Belts?

The fundamental difference lies in the carcass construction. Fabric belts use layers of woven polyester and nylon fabric (plies) bonded together with rubber — creating a flexible, troughable belt that absorbs impact well. Steel cord belts use longitudinal steel cables for tensile strength and are preferred for long-distance, high-tension applications. For moderate conveyor lengths (up to several kilometers) and standard material loads, fabric belts provide a more cost-effective solution with easier splicing and maintenance.

ZOOMRY offers two primary fabric belt types: EP belts (polyester warp fibers for strength, nylon weft fibers for flexibility and troughability) and nylon belts (nylon in both directions for maximum elasticity and impact absorption). EP belts are the preferred choice for most bulk handling applications due to their lower elongation and better dimensional stability under load.

How to Select the Right Fabric Belt Specification?

Choosing the correct fabric conveyor belt involves matching several key parameters to your application:

  • Cover Rubber Grade: Select based on material abrasiveness. For bulky and sharp materials such as large pebbles or granite, choose abrasion-resistant grades (18MPA and above). For standard materials like coal or limestone, 12MPA-15MPA grades provide the best cost-performance balance.
  • Ply Count and Tensile Strength: Heavier loads and longer distances require higher ply counts and tensile ratings. EP315/3 is adequate for short, light-duty conveyors, while EP1250/5 handles heavy-duty mining applications.
  • Cover Thickness: The type of material being transported and loading conditions directly affect cover thickness requirements. Higher drop heights and abrasive materials demand thicker top covers to protect the fabric carcass.
  • Temperature and Environment: For hot materials like clinker, coke, foundry sand, and slag, select heat-resistant conveyor belt grades. For underground coal mines, choose fire-resistant belts with anti-static properties.

Advantages

  • Adaptable cover thickness: The cover layer thickness is tailored to the type of material being transported and the loading conditions — protecting the carcass from impact and abrasion.
  • Abrasion-resistant options: For bulky and sharp materials such as large pebbles and granite, select abrasion-resistant cover grades that extend belt service life.
  • Heat-resistant grades available: Materials like clinker, coke, foundry sand, and slag can be transported on fabric belts with heat-resistant cover compounds.
  • Fire-resistant for underground safety: Underground coal miners can select fabric belts that are safe for underground applications with flame-retardant and anti-static properties.
  • Primarily utilized for tough, abrasive materials: The multi-ply construction provides excellent durability in demanding mining and quarry environments.
  • More cost-efficient than steel cord belts: For moderate distances and loads, fabric belts offer lower initial cost, easier splicing, and reduced maintenance compared to steel cord alternatives.
